I am a freelance photographer based in Derbyshire (and occasionally Scotland), and travel the length of the country for work; enjoying the variety this offers commercially and personally.

My personal projects straddle the genres of landscape and documentary. I’m currently engaged in several bodies of work concerning islands and small rural communities, with socio-political and environmental emphases. Working mostly on film, these projects reflect my concerns and ethos.

A huge passion for music lead to a great deal of my earliest photographic ventures at concerts and doing publicity shots, which culminated in work for Stoke Sounds online magazine. Whilst at university I worked extensively with multiple exposures and composite imagery, using both film and digital processes, and expanding my digital editing abilities. This lead to shows in Stoke-on-Trent and London at the Association of Photographers gallery.

My commercial work ranges from concert photography to packshot/product photography, from documentary/editorial work to portraiture. I’m interested in the world and everything in it, and take every opportunity to try something a little different or accept a new challenge- even turning my eye to design projects and weddings. Most recently my clients have included Summer Isles Enterprises and several major clothing distributors. I have also previously worked with Henson Editorial, North Staffordshire Press Ltd. and Blue Origin.

Having completed my BA nearly 4 years ago, I felt this year the time was right to expand further my photographic education and I aim to complete an MA by 2015. In addition, I’m currently organising exhibitions of work both in the UK and in Europe, and being regularly published in magazines such as Scottish Islands Explorer, Earthlines and the John Muir Trust members’ magazine. I have several bodies of work for publication in book form, for which I am currently seeking funding. Take a look at the weblog for up-to-date news on current projects and assignments.
